Fungal Acne “safe” skincare is not real. Fungal acne is actually called Pityrosporum (or Malassezia) folliculitis. It is caused by an inflammatory response to yeast that live on the skin. Risk factors include hot & humid climates, high sebum, excessive sweating, immunosuppression, prolonged courses of antibiotics, steroids, & occlusion. Topical or oral anti-fungals can clear this, but it may recur in those with multiple risk factors. Anti-dandruff shampoo, such as ketoconazole shampoo, may help
