Jen, I had a similar question before going on this tour and called and spoke to the boat Captain's wife. She recommends against the longer lens because of the boat transfer to the island can be tricky depending on the sea state. Thus, I took my 70-200mm zoom and it fine. Once on the island, you are in a blind that will accommodate up to 3 or 4 people. The puffins actually land on top of the blinds and are sitting on the rocks just outside the blinds. I was able to get some GREAT shots sitting on the rocks and in flight. Danny
